Damien the Leper
(1840-1889)

Blessed Damien, our patron and namesake, spent the majority of his priestly life caring for the poor, outcast lepers on the Hawaiian island of Molokai. Along with treating their physical wounds, he also tended their spiritual wounds and brought them from the depths of despair into the light of hope. After many years of dedicated service, he himself contracted the disease and died - a true martyr. Fr. Damien totally gave of himself by living with the lepers in isolation. We don’t have to go to such an extreme. We can make a difference right from our own homes. Our commitment of funds to this very important mission can accomplish the same gratifying results.

Persons obtaining favors through the intercession of Father Damien are requested to inform the Director of his Cause at the address below.
